Christmas Eve! Mary Christmas to All!

Marry Christmas to all of you!!! It’s a wonderful holiday! Great feelings and majestical expectations. The great opportunity to visit my family and friends! The chance to try anything new in the vocation, for example to learn skating or mountain skiing as I’m going to do at weekends with my boyfriend! The feeling while kissing under mistletoe is unforgettable and it’s impossible to compare with anything.

I wish you GREAT HOLIDAYS and unforgettable impressions!!!

Christmas Shopping Is Coming!

Today is December, 9th. There are 16 days left till Christmas! :D
I think almost all people love this holiday, the day of wonders and presents (not only from our dearests and nearests, but from the desteny also, when all dreams may come true).
Christmas trees and decorations going up, houses and gardens aglow with lights and every time you look in the paper, turn on the TV or take a trip to the shopping centre. WoW!
Everything lets us know about the coming Christmas. I adore to do presents and going to do shoping as soon as possible!

Australia is Not So Far As We Can Imagine!

One of my dream is to travel in Australia, as it's one of my favourite countries. I adore everything in it: weather (e.g. it's spring now there), people, nature (yes-yes I adore it)... But I can judge about it only by movies, films as I've never been there yet (but I hope that one day my dream will come true). Being a teenager I was astonished by a book "The Thorn Birds" (Collen McCullough), the nature of the country was discribed so vividly that a reader can easily imagine a citezen or a tourist. Great!
So, the other day I read in the Internet that a new movie goes into production where Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman star there ("Australia"). Tourism promoters claim the real star of the movie is the country itself. The movie opens internationally on Nov. 26.
What is it about? The film follows the story of a noblewoman on a cattle drive in Australia during World War II. The movie was filmed largely in rugged Western Australia, notably in and around the small town of Kununurra, a three-hour flight north of Perth, and in the California-sized Kimberley wilderness region.
As the director of the film said, that tourism numbers will rise after the movie would be released.

It's No Need To Worry (Even the World Finincial Crisis)

Psychologists consider that worrying is a good and useful tool as it helps keep us safe and reminds us to get things done. But when it is out of control, it turns into an energy-sapping, sleep-stealing anxiety cycle. Worrying has become a modern-day epidemic, infecting our lives with different strains – from sweating the small stuff (did I lock the car?) to imagining the worst (is this headache a brain tumour?). My father can't live a day without worrying while my mum perceives life and everythin in it patiently and calm as it should be. Maybe it's so as she is a doctor?! Our worries can, over time, suppress the immune system, raise blood pressure and lead to anxiety-related conditions. I am usually anxious before taking examinations but I always pull myself together and pass them successfully.
There are several rules how to cure yourself from worries:
  • Challenge your negative beliefs.
  • Learn to accept uncertainty. Just be yourself :)
  • Name your fear.
We should just live and enjoy the life as it's so interesting to live! ;D

To Be Under the Weather at Cold Weather

I'd like to continue stories about the origins of idioms that we use in our everyday life.
For example, my dad, when he feels ill, always uses the phrase "I'm under the weather... Uff"

But the origins of the term is not related to cold weather at all. In fact, "under the weather" is a saying with a nautical background. Sailors and passengers on ships would get ill or seasick during their journey. Sick passengers were ordered to go below deck, which was believed to be the most stable part of the ship as well as a shelter from the weather. This was to ensure a speedy recovery from whatever was ailing them.

So, it’s no matter what profession you have, you use this phrase as a synonym for being ill. But it means also "being intoxicated" :D

It is Not a Problem to Choose a Plastic.

You will probably agree with me that it's difficult to imagine a situation with no credit cards. As plastics already become our friends and life without them seems to be very difficult. My grandmother who lives in the country, living all her life without credits, faced a problem as now she needs to establish a credit card. Moreover, now this financial crisis makes people to think about their savings.
So, I advise her to apply no annual fee cards. As these plastics can be:
  • a great way of saving money,
  • very convenient to make payments,
  • helpful to economize.
Maybe there is only one disadvantage of such kinds of credit cards as the cardholder should have excellent or good credit rating. But it isn't also a great problem as it's possible to compare plastics for people with no credit score.

God Bless You! Interesting Facts

Winter time is comming :((( and we are more likely to catch a flu, cold or some more viral respiratory infections. Though now it's still autumn most of my colleagues and friends are ill. Moreover, I, myself, have just recovered from a flu (that's why I didn't write anything for a long time). "God bless you!" is an usual phrase that was said in response to my sneezing for these days.

I decided to make a little research about the story behind "God Bless You". And I found out some interesting facts. Actually, there are several different theories behind why this commonly used phrase is said in reaction to a sneeze.
  • One tale dates back to the time when an outbreak of Bubonic Plague hit Rome during medieval times and in 590 [A.D.], Pope Gregory I ordered the citizens of Rome to pray to fend off an outbreak of the Bubonic Plague and since people of the day thought a sneeze was a symptom of the plague, they would say 'God Bless You' to the sneezer.
  • Another story tells us that there is a superstition that when one sneezes, his heart stops. Saying "God Bless You" is believed to make the sneezer return to life or make his heart continue to beat. Funny:D
There are also some possitive and negative views to the sneezing.
  • The positive explanation states that sneezing helps cleanse the body of evil spirits.
  • The negative states that sneezing is a bad sign. "People used to believe that your soul was thrown from your body during a sneeze."

So, "God bless you!" if you sneezed. Take care!

"W.". Is It a Film?

"W." is an original name for a film, isn't it? Before the presedential ellection a new film, that is considered to be a sensation, is going into production tomorrow, October,17. To tell you the truth, I'm not so interested in the comming ellection, and this film can give rise to mockery and can help to learn more about the life of our presedent. They say it is a a three-act film starting with Bush as a young man "with a missed life", followed by his transformation and "an assertion of will which was amazingly powerful" [ Oliver Stone] as he came out from his father's shadow, and finally his invasion of Iraq.
I hope it's not boring.
Ok, I'm looking forward to watching it one day.

Yoga BOOM!

It's very important to live in harmony with yourself, to design a calm in your spirit and have a new sense of awareness. I understood this after visiting the courses of yoga last week (and I'm going to continue practising it even twice a week). And I think it will definitely help me with my nervous work. I hope so.
A friend of mine who is waiting for a baby, offered me to join her at this activity and I agreed. It's nice to find that the majority of people (old and young, pregnant and not, slim and with full weight) are interested in yoga. Moreover, there's also a baby yoga for newly-born children. Nice!!
All this inspired me to look at the world and my health with new feelings.

Mamma Mia! ABBA's Songs Forever!

Mamma Mia!!! I visited this movie these weekends! WoW! It's amazing! Cool!! Incredible!
To say that I liked the musical, it's to say nothing! I fell in love with the music, ABBA songs as well as the playing of the actors. And now I admit that I'm an ABBA fan. The musical's plot is also rather unique and funny. And Pierce Brosnan, he showed himself as a real star who really made the movie funny. Moreover, the songs and the actors' voices make the simple story a fun watch through. The body movements and expressions makes the songs look as if they were real exchanges between the actors.
So, Mamma Mia really captures me and left unforgettable impressions.

Again About Hair...

Monotonous life is soooo boring and makes me pessimistic and be in a bad mood. Moreover, it's autumn now, the time of depression. So, I have a great desire to change my image or something in my appearance. I want to do something with my hair. Actually, I don't have enough time to straighten my hair every morning before going to work. So, I want to try a professional chemical treatment.
I visited my stylist who is rather professional in it. The process can be of three types: relaxation, thermal reconditioning and brazilian hair treatment. It was interested to know that the ralaxation is a very good treatment for naturally curly-haired people and it takes only an hour while the result of it can last from three to six months. Isn't it great? But the only minus of it, perhaps, is that some relaxers can pose potential concerns like skin irritation and hair damage, including breakage and dryness.
The second opportunity to straighten hair is thermal reconditioning, also known as Japanese straightening, involves a combination of chemicals and heated irons. The process affects hair cuticles, making hair straight and shiny. Though chemicals remain on the hair for about 20 to 25 minutes, thermal reconditioning takes four hours from start to finish. That’s because the stylist irons your hair in tiny sections (a quarter of an inch at a time). After the process, hair can stay straight for six to 10 months. WoW! But thermal reconditioning poses several safety risks. Specifically, some women who've had this treatment suffered hair damage or even hair loss.
And the third method is is a newer straightening technique that’s become very popular, because it works well with many hair types. It's the so-called "Brazilian Hair Treatment " under the brand of Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Brazilian Blowout and Brazilian Hair. This treatment takes one and a half to four hours.
Weighing all the pros and cons of the methods I desided to try the first one: Relaxars (as I'm still afraid of doing experiments with my hair).

How Can I Protect My Credit Cards...?

The other day I faced the problem as I needed credit card protection. In fact, doing shopping I couldn't find one of my credit cards while paying for my new dress. I was searching it everywhere, in every coner of my bag, purse and even my pockets... but in vain... I coudn't find it anywhere. It was a real pity for me. The only thing I decided to do at that time was to freeze my credit card to be on the safe side. But to my great surprise when I came back home I discovered that my credit was in another bag. Uffff... very strange case...
This incident made me think about my card protection itself. Being a shopping addict and credit card spending lover I addressed to CREDIT LAND to learn more about it. They advised me to use their programs. There are some services that allow access to a three-in-one credit report but unfortunately it's only for a charge (and it's pointless).
So, the best way out is to monitor transactions activity myself or check my bank monthly statements.

Perm Tragedy is a National Tragedy...

I didn't write anything so long as I was shocked and I'm still at this state since this Sunday...
Russia is rather far from the US but the sorrow of the tragedy is very close to my heart...
A small Russian city that is near the Ural mountains became famous all over the world at one moment: passenger jet traveling from Moscow to the Ural Mountains city of Perm crashed while preparing to land early Sunday, killing all 88 people aboard including Citizens of the U.S., France, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Latvia, officials said. I bow my head to the pilots as they were so pofessional that were able to avoid some more victims on the ground. It was a real wonder, made by the pilots, as they could direct the burning plane away from buildings and it crashed into an unpopulated area of the city, just a few hundred yards from residential buildings on the railway, and some part of the Trans-Siberian railway was also shut down as a result of the rail damage.
I can't discribe my feelings now... It's a real tragedy for all nationalities.

My Coming Weekends and Flowers!

Thanks to Lord the week is coming to the end!
It was a busy week for me as I had much to do at my office.
Moreover, it has been a busy week of swimming lessons, and Italian lessons that I was attending from Monday. Che la lingua bella ma un po' difficele!
On Saturday I'm going to visit a flower exhibition in Florida! Wide flowers, clematis (I adore it and my balcony is full of them of different types), my favourite tropical flowers, lotua, tulips, roses and others. Great!
Hmmm... yesterday, surfing the Internet I found an interesting article about flower horoscopes. I was laughing out loud that occording to my sign (I'm a cancer), my flower should be delphinium, while I adore roses and have never seen this kind of flower as delphinium LOL
I hope I enjoy my time!

My New Wish!!!!

I'm still under the impression after meeting my schoolmate these weekends. You see, I haven't seen her for ages as she lives in Portugal now and has her own bisiness in interior design. WoW!!!! she is a real businesswoman! Moreover, she changed her image greatly and it's impossible to recognize her meeting her at street by chance))) Her appearance, clothes, gestures and even the gait. She showed me the designs of the interior that she creates for herself and I felt a burning desire to redecorate my house!
And I'll definitely do it!!!!

Rewards Credit Cards

I have just founf out that I am going on a trip to Germany! Cool! So right now I am thinking about how to find the best airfare. And save on my travel expenses)))
I have been checking out http://www.creditbreak.com/Airmiles-Rewards.php and have found some pretty neat credit cards. I do not have any rewards cards for traveling yet so it might be a good idea to apply for one.

Thinking about...Hair

I am thinking about my hair. Right now.
I just saw an online advertisement, something like: looking for a new hairstyle? Upload your picture with dozens of new haircuts.
I have never died or cut my hair in my whole life. I know, it's pretty unusual but it's true. Maybe I am just way too conservative. I am one of these peopel that never change. People that haven't seen me since kindergarden have no problems recognizing me in the street.
well, I guess I just like myself the way I am. Isn't it great?

Monday, August 18, 2008

It has never crossed my mind before that there has never been a single president in the US 9Except for Kennedy) who were not Protestant. Isn't it weird? I have fiound lots of other interesting stuff in this wikepedia article on religion in the US.

WALL-E!!!))))

This is the cutest movie ever! Last night my nephew and I decided to watch WALL-E. First I didn't feel like watching something about robots (I am not a science fiction fan) but it absolutely won my heart!
I especially loved the idea of using the music from Hello, Dolly. I like the show even though it's not the greatest musical. And it's nice to know that kids like my nephew learn to appreciate this kind of music.
WALL-E is a great love story and also a fairy-tale that urges us to think more about how we treat the planet we live on!

My Vacation Plans

I have finally made up my mind where to go on vacation. Since I have two weeks off in September it's about time to make a plan. I will go to Virginina! Why Virginia? Well, a few friends that have been there said it's a beatiful state (to be honest I have never been to a state that is not beautiful:)). And it has lots of Civil War sights. I love history so I would like to see all those historical places.
I have checked out a few sites on "what to see in Virginia" but none of them gave me enough information. I thinks I'll decide on the spot! I've already booked tickets. I'll go to DC first for a few days to visit my friends and then probably take a bus or drive to Virginia. It's going to be fun!!!!

Student Credit Cards

I've checking out some credit card deals online and I have noticed that most student student credit cards require good credit history. Well, at least this is how issuers market these products. I fyou are a student you will naturaly serach for offers for students. But what if you have limited credit history? i am not sayiong there are no credit card offers for those with bad credit. There are lots. But. Why the heck are they not considered student credit cards?
I just think this is very confusing and marketologists need to think about this issue.

I WANT TO GO ON VACATION!!!

Gosh, I am tired!!! I am really tired. And bored. I am tired of working and bored with work. I WANT TO GO ON VACATION. I would prefer a sunny beach somewhere in California...Florida is ok but for some reason I like California better. I want to be lazy (well, I am lazy I just have to pretend that I'm not) and not to feel guilty about it.
Sometimes I think about starting somehting like my own business. On one hand when you are your own boss you can have a vacation whenever you like it. Ob the other hanf, when you are THE boss you do not have time for any vacation!
Oh well, I just NEED A VACATION!

The Juno Movie

I have just finished watching the movie Juno. I know it’s pretty old but I didn’t have a chance to see it when it came out. And guess what? I liked it! My high school friend came over and we both enjoyed it! I have heard different opinions about it but I LIKED it. Ok may be I am too old for those kinds of movies but it was nice to look at those boys running and recall my high school days!

Why Are Some People So-o-o-o-o Slow...

Today I have helping one of the girls in the office to make a report. Nothing special, just had to explain a couple of things. Gosh, the way she moved that mouse! I felt like I was watching her in slow motion. Should wouldn't open more than two documents at the same time because she can't make to many operations at the same time!
Now I would really want to know how much less she makes. I mean she has to make twice less than me because she is so-o-o-o slow...

Is Clothes That Important?

I've been trying to re-think my monthly budget. The bigegst issue is "do I spend too much on clothes"?
I don't want to say that I spend hundreds of dollars each month on new out fits but I like to buy clothes. I would rather save on going out (i haven't been to the movies for ages) but buy something new to wear. My boyfriend has literally ten times less clothes than I do.
I buy clothes I like, not the clothes I "need". I mean, I cannot say that I have nothing to wear. Still whenever I see something new I buy it. Especially if you try it on and it looks good.
The problem is: should I spend less on clothes because I do not really need it or should I treat myself. After all I work hard for the money and I deserve soemthing that makes me feel good.
Well, this is really something to think about...

Life's Been Pretty Depressing Lately...

Life's been pretty depressing lately...I've just talked to a friend of mine. He is going to move in with his girlfriend and was really hoping to get a raise (he had been promised he would). But he didn't. He is really upset. I am too.
I need to buy a new car. I really do .But with the money I have right now there is no way I can buy what I want. So there are two options: buy something you do nto want or don't buy something you really need.
Excellent...

Where to Find Great Credit Card Deals?

Yes, I've started doing this again. I've started browsing the Internet for great credit card deals. I've found a few websites with good offers but... Are they really that great? Dunno...May be I'm just being picky or it is the financial crisis that's making me kind of negative but I haven't seen that many great deals...

Coming Back

Wow. It's been forever since I've posted on my blog....Shame on me...
Actually, I've been pretty busy. I've been working, taking some courses at the university and going out.
Anyway, I've been a bad blogger to put it mildly.
From now one I'll continue writing to this little blog of mine:)
